New Beginnings

Yesterday, I participated in my very first vendor event at Lakeland Spring Vivid at Lakeside Village, and what an experience it was! The event was from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., but vendors had to arrive early to set up. As a first-time vendor, I thought I had everything packed and ready to go, my books, promotional materials, table, tent, and tent weights. Then I realized I forgot two very important things: chairs and a fan. And trust me, in the Florida heat, that fan would have been a lifesaver!

Before arriving, I prayed and asked God to have His way. I tried not to place high expectations on the event because I didn't want to focus solely on sales. In fact, after seeing all the other vendors selling everything from candles and baked goods to tumblers and handmade accessories, I started wondering if anyone would even stop to look at my books. But God had other plans.

Throughout the evening, I had the opportunity to meet some amazing people, hear inspiring testimonies, and even connect with another Christian author pursuing publication. One of the most memorable moments came when a woman told me she had just left a bookstore without finding anything she wanted, then walked over to my table and purchased one of my hardcover books. Moments like that reminded me that God knows exactly who needs the message He places in our hearts.

By the end of the night, I had sold eight books.

Going into the event, I told myself that if I sold even one book, I would be grateful because that would mean one person received a message they needed. Selling eight books felt like such an encouragement. Since the number eight is often associated with new beginnings, I couldn't help but see it as a reminder that this may be the start of something new.

More than the sales, I left with valuable lessons, new connections, and a deeper appreciation for the journey God has me on. I also left incredibly thankful for my husband, who supported me throughout the entire event.

Will I do another vendor event? Absolutely.

There are definitely things I'll do differently next time, but this experience showed me that stepping out in faith is always worth it. Every conversation, every connection, and every book sold was a reminder that God is faithful. To Him all the glory belongs.
