African Worship Hits Different

I'm sitting at my desk mad at myself for even having to admit this, because I cannot believe what just happened. Let me rewind so you can get caught up. A few weeks ago, one of my best friends told me to try listening to African worship music. She was like, "It's different. Their desperation for God is just on another level." So, of course I gave it a shot. Listen, at the time, I was not feeling it. I couldn't understand what they were saying, it felt like too much yelling, just too much going on, I was irritated. I told her straight up, "Friend, I'm glad you like it, but that's not my cup of tea."
Fast forward to today (sighs). I'm at work, and the day is just off. Nothing is going right. I'm trying to get in tune with God, trying to align my spirit, but it's just not clicking. You ever have those moments where you want to feel God, but you just can't quite get there? So, I'm like okay, I need to do something because at this point, I'm tired of feeling empty and frustrated. I proceed to open my Spotify, and it suggests an African worship song. Now I pause because I already tried this before, but something in me said, try it again. So, I pressed play. And y'all, within minutes, something started shifting.
Next thing I know, I've got this overwhelming urge to pray. Not the cute, whispering under your breathe prayer, but the kind where you have to go somewhere and get alone with God. Mind you, like I said I'm at work. Crazy thing is, God already knew what He was about to do, because my provider just so happened to not be here today. Now tell me God doesn't set things up on purpose. So, I go into a room and I invite God in. Because wherever I am, that where church is. When I tell you that music started building and the spirit of God overflowed in that room. BABY I LOST IT!!! I'm talking crying, sobbing, snotting, hands lifted, spiritual language flowing, completely undone. I wasn't worried about how I looked, who heard me, none of that. I was lost in His presence. I can't even fully describe it. My eyes are so sore I can't even blink, but I wouldn't trade that moment for anything.
In that moment it hit me, my friend was right all along. African worship hits different. And from this day forward, whenever I need to feel the presences of the Holy Spirit in a way that I can't get on my own, I already know where I'm going.
Let me put you on...If you have Spotify, look up "Victoria Orenze - The Weapon”. OMG!!!!!
